Rhana Pytell is the founder and director of Amethyst Systems, a software content company dedicated to giving spa management the tools and resources they need to run healthy businesses.

At Amethyst, Rhana oversees the development and delivery of the company's web-based spa management software and consults with spa owners and directors to help them bring greater order, ease and accountability to their organizations.

Rhana gained her experience in the spa industry as the director and co-owner of GAIA Spa, which she opened in 1997 as an oasis for skin and body care. As a student of the early innovators in natural health disciplines, Bernard Jensen and Hanna Kroeger, Rhana has been a passionate holistic and organic lifestyle advocate. She saw the opening of GAIA as an opportunity to bring holistic and healthy living to a wider community.

GAIA soon became a success and, a decade later, continues to lead the industry in introducing new and innovative business practices. Recently, the Green Spa Network accepted GAIA as a seed spa incorporating environmentally sustainable practices in day-to-day spa operations.

Throughout her tenure at GAIA, Rhana has learned from many challenges that face the spa industry, including rapid expansion, complex service operations, employee retention, retail management and costly overhead. Much of the wisdom and expertise Rhana has gained in successfully “growing” GAIA has been encapsulated into Amethyst Systems. 

Rhana is passionate about the possibilities of cultural transformation and our collective rediscovery and heartfelt appreciation of our planetary home.
